Reaktioner i Polen på vår turné 1-23/4 2024 i Wroclaw, Poznan, Lublin, Lubartow, Bilgoraj , Kazimierz Dolny och Wegajty. Vi spelade Skogsorgeln, 1917- När klockorna stannade och I Skuggan av Hatet växer Blommor.

Stefania Gardecka, teaterlegendar i Polen. Har arbetat under kanske trettio år med Grotowski och Grotowski Institute i Wroclaw, Polen. Hon såg Teater Albatross spela ”1917- När klockorna stannade,” på Teaterakademin, som är Scenskolan, i Wroclaw. Hon skrev i sin blogg:

Föreställningsbeskrivning: jag kommer in i ett stort svart rum på Teaterhögskolan i Wrocław. Det är 5 april kl 18.00, och där inne ”svävar vita rökringar” (parafras på slutet av Grotowskis föreställning Akropolis).

Scenografin är lite som ur en saga, men det är en grym saga. För att kort berätta om föreställningen kan man säga att det är en teatral flashback som börjar med tiden före revolutionen, fram till själva revolutionen 1905, den som brutalt slogs ner, till nästa revolution 1917, när diktaturen störtades och Lenin och Trotskij övertog makten.

Människor grät av lycka efter Lenins tal, följde honom som en trollkarl, ville skapa en ny konst och en ny värld. Marc Chagall blev revolutionens kommissarie. Malewicz och hans abstrakta former revolutionerade världens konst. Meyerholds teater klev ur de fina salongerna ut till fabrikerna. Föreställningarna skulle spelas på en sluttning inför förbluffade bönder. Tatlin ville bygga ett torn mycket högre än Eiffeltornet, väldigt lutande, från det skulle revolutionära idéer projiceras på molnen, och framför molnen skulle Majakovskij läsa sina dikter för full hals.

Avantgardets amazoner som de kallades i New York, alla dessa kvinnliga konstnärer, var delar av revolutionen. Aldrig förr hade man sett så många kvinnor i konstvärlden. Bonddottern Varvara Stepanova visar sina underbara tygmönster. Emancipation. Den ryska själen tände en eld i hela världen. Men så kommer besvikelsen, den grymma stalinistiska epoken följer, förvisningar till trakter där temperaturen faller under -50 grader, hunger, fattigdom, förföljelser, arresteringar, och så kommer 1968 när studentrevolten gick genom Europa. Den smärtsamma slutsatsen att våldet alltid kommer att finnas, att endast kärleken kan rädda och befria individen.

I föreställningen blandas historia med nutid, med nu levande människors öden, deras privatliv, strävanden, drömmar, första kärlek. Den framförs av Robert Jakobsson, som talar, dansar, sjunger, åker i historiens karusell (bokstavligen), faller av den och reser sig; varje ögonblick är fyllt av innehåll, rörelse, oväntade händelser. Tack vare skådespelaren, scenografin och musiken talar föreställningen så starkt till människor. Åskådaren ser på i spänning, man glömmer att man sitter på teatern, för man är helt närvarande i det som händer här och nu.

Efter föreställningen är det tyst i mörkret, tystnaden skulle säkert kunna pågå längre, men någon bryter den med en traditionsenlig applåd; jag skulle vilja att den varade längre, att den fick fullbordas.

Det är märkligt, men efter föreställningen kände jag mig lycklig, som om jag hade genomgått en rening, en katharsis som Jerzy Grotowski skulle ha sagt. Jag blev själv förvånad att jag kände mig så lätt om hjärtat, trots den tragedi som skådespelaren berättade om.

Han är så verklig, som om han ger hela sin själ till föreställningen, själen hos en upprorsman, drömmare, en lidande, förälskad observatör, med en raffinerad humor trots dramatiken. Han avslutar med en sång som sväller, stiger och sjunker tills den i slutet exploderar som en vulkan och sedan dör ut. Klockorna ringer i mörkret.

 

Men den efterlämnar ett hopp, en optimism, trots allt. Så kändes det åtminstone för mig. Direkt efter föreställningen hölls en diskussion mellan Teater Albatross och studenterna från Teaterhögskolan i Wrocław, som ett fint komplement till föreställningen. Fantastiska blivande skådespelare från Teaterhögskolan, talangfulla människor och en fantastisk föreställning, fängslande scenografi, överraskande musik, sång och dans.

Jag är glad att jag var med dem där, för inte på många år har jag upplevt en sådan känsla av glädje och lätthet på teatern.

Den unga Imperial Teatr letar efter inspiration överallt, och igår kl 18.00 var vi på den underbara föreställningen ”Songs of the Forest – en saga för vuxna, av Svenska Albatrossteatern på ACKiM

UMCS Chatka Żaka. Barnen kunde se uppsättningen och rekvisita närmare och till och med röra vid dem!!! Våra inre barn vaknade, spelade på sågen och klättrade in i bilen!!!

 

Pjäsen ”Skogens sånger – en saga för vuxna”, sattes upp av Svenska Albatrossteatern, är en härlig teaterupplevelse som kombinerar en unik form med ett viktigt och mycket aktuellt budskap.

Scenografin är handgjord med papiersmaché, gips och trä, vilket skapar en extraordinär värld där naturen och djuren är huvudpersonerna. Handmålade djur på standar i kombination med trädrötter skapar vackra och symboliska bilder.

Föreställningen imponerar inte bara med sin form, utan också med det känslomässiga skådespeleriet. Det ekologiska ämnet, genomsyrat av budskapet om behovet av att rädda djur och natur, är fortfarande aktuellt och universellt. ”Songs of the Forest” är ett skådespel inte bara för ögonen, utan också för hjärtat och sinnet, som får oss att reflektera över vår relation till planeten.

Det är ett oförglömligt möte med teatern som finns kvar i ditt minne långt efter att föreställningen är slut.

From the first moments spent together, during the ”Flowers Grow in the Shadow of Hate” performance, we felt that we are part of one big family. You told us about your visit to our city a few years ago, when you performed the story of Daniel in front of former prisoners of a World War II concentration camp. The fate of this Jewish boy was also their own fate …. It must have been a shocking experience. For us as well, the show turned out to be a journey back in time. Thanks to you, we were transported to the events of World War II, to a small town, and Daniel’s story moved us so much because it touched everybody at a deeply personal level. During this hour spent with you, we understood that so much depends on us. When having an opportunity to help another person, we should act without hesitation.

Robert Jakobsson’s masterful words formed an image, with all of us present. We smelled bigos, the scent of fresh laundry, and we followed the trail of smoke from an extinguished candle. We also felt Daniel’s heart beating faster when he met the priest or when he came to Marysia’s hospitable home. The melody of Per Buhre’s violin captivated us, there was a whole world of emotions in this music. The perfect work of the interpreter completely eliminated the language barrier, with a beautiful voice of the lector. The minimalist set design, unique props and costumes gave us an unforgettably strong experience.

Thank you for these emotions and we are looking forward to your next visit to our school.

 

Już od pierwszych chwil spędzonych z Wami podczas przedstawienia „W cieniu Nienawiści rosną Kwiaty” poczuliśmy, że jesteśmy jedną wielką rodziną. Opowiedzieliście o wizycie w naszym mieście przed laty, kiedy odgrywaliście historię o Danielu przed widzami, którzy byli w czasie wojny więźniami obozu. Okazało się wtedy, że los tego żydowskiego chłopca był także ich własnym losem – to musiało być wstrząsające przeżycie. Spektakl okazał się również dla nas podróżą w czasie. Przenieśliśmy się dzięki Wam w czasy II wojny światowej, do małego miasteczka, a historia Daniela poruszyła nas tak bardzo, bo zaczęła dotyczyć każdego z nas osobiście. W ciągu tej godziny spędzonej z Wami zrozumieliśmy, że tak wiele od nas zależy. Kiedy możemy pomóc drugiemu człowiekowi, zróbmy coś dobrego bez wahania.
Mistrzowskie słowo Roberta Jakobssona sprawiło, że w naszej wyobraźni wyświetlił się film, w którym zaczęliśmy być obecni razem. Czuliśmy zapach bigosu, zapach świeżego prania, śledziliśmy smugę dymu po zgaszonej świecy. Czuliśmy też przyspieszone bicie serca Daniela, kiedy spotkał księdza czy przyszedł do gościnnego domu Marysi. Melodia skrzypiec Pera Buhre porwała nas, był w tej muzyce cały świat emocji. Doskonałe symultaniczne tłumaczenie zupełnie zniwelowało barierę językową, a Pani lektorka była w teatralnej ekipie pięknym głosem. Minimalistyczna scenografia, wyjątkowe rekwizyty, kostiumy dały nam niezapomnianie mocne wrażenie.
Dziękujemy Wam za te emocje i czekamy na następną Waszą wizytę w naszej szkole.

After seeing The Song of the Forest and 1917- When the clocks stopped in Kazimierz Dolny, April 19-20 2024:

Performances by the Swedish Teater Albatross went deep down in both culture and history of Kazimierz Dolny. Their masterful acting and brilliant scenography transported the audience into the world that would only appear in our imagination. A touching expression coming straight from the heart was something that the viewers appreciated the most. Those memories of the exceptional spectacles will remain in minds of everyone who had a chance to see them performing live.

on behalf of the Polish theatrical group Fatum Theatre I would like to enquire about a possibility of a cooperation with Your Albatross Theatre. We were greatly impressed by your play ”The Song of The Forest” (”Skogsorgeln – En saga för vuxna”), and we would like to learn more about your work and art-making techniques.

Fatum Theatre is a musical theatrical group formed by students of The Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. Our theatre is very young as we established it just a year ago. Nevertheless, we have already produced our first play – a musical called „The Kiss of Tears” which has been very warmly received by the audience. We are currently working on performance consisting of the songs and choreography from our musical which will have it’s premiere on May 26th. In addition, we engage in many Polish theatre and art festivals, such as The Student Theatre Spring and The Lublin Night of Culture.

As previously discussed we would love to visit you to exchange our ideas and experiences. We are open to various artistic activities and forms of cooperation. We would be grateful for letting us know when some interesting workshops and festivals you attend are taking place.

Could you also let us know what would be the best time to visit you? Please take under consideration that we are all students and the most suitable time for us is from the middle of July to the middle of September. Lastly, we would like to know what are the accommodation possibilities near you?

Songs of the forest – Albatross Theatre in Węgajtach 23.04.

A tiny owl, beaver with a flower in a bottler, a huge raven, a wooden hare, a flying dolphin and a hedgehog with thorns from feathers – Albatross Theatre tells fairy tales. Enchanted by the beauty of the meticulously carved and painted scenography of Lisa Lieberath, we accompany the three actors on their forest paths, in search of voices of animals and plants registered in a mysterious black box. The device is the only thing that is lost in Elma and Everta, lost many years ago to nature researchers. But what the animals have to tell us is terrifying. It is a sad truth about ourselves, of the human species, which mercilessly kills animals, cuts down forests, destroys space for life. Our common space, because there will be no other planet Earth. Węgajcka audience awarded the “Sea Songs of the Forest” with standing ovations. It was difficult to react differently to the intricately woven story, masterfully played by Sally Celander, Robert Jakobson and Fabian Zeidlitz. As viewers, we felt that we were involved in something special. The message of the spectacle was not just one of today’s castastic promontory calls to respect nature, to stop the exploitation of non-renewable resources. He did not confine himself to enumerating rational arguments opposing the logic of unlimited growth. The simple and seemingly innocent form of the spectacle appealed to something deeper in us. The fairy tale told by the actors made us feel new to children and discover our own deeply personal bond with living beings. We have come to understand that it is this emotional bond that may become the key to not being passive in the face of the threatening apocalypse. After the show, the actors and organizers invited them to an interview. Viewers shared their observations and reflections. Above all, we were moved by the issue of how in the world of information chaos to activate people to act for nature. Very important in the discussion were the statements of activists involved in the audience dealing with the protection of forests and rivers. They confirmed that it is often more effective than factography and forecasts to convey information in an artistic form, appealing to the imagination.

My name is Marek Kurkiewicz. We met yesterday when you performed your ”Songs of the Forest” at the Węgajty Theater. When I saw you after many years, my heart beat faster. You are wonderful and you do a great job with your theater.

I met Teater Albatross for the first time in my life in 1998 in Gdańsk, almost 26 years ago. Then you brought your performance about the Holocaust to the FETA International Festival of Street and Outdoor Theaters. The impression of what I saw then as an eighteen-year-old boy, and Teatr Snów actor, stayed with me for many years and continues to this day. Yesterday we met again, this time in the place where our friends from the Węgajty Theater have their studio. ”Songs of the Forest” by the Albatross Theater will stay with me for a long time and this meeting is like a mystical journey… Robert Jakobsson, Sally Celander and Fabian Zeidlitz, I hope we will meet again soon! Thank you with all my heart
