Teater Albatross’ legendary summer festival at Tokalynga Theatre Academy in Gunnarp (Halland) from July 29 to August 2. A fireworks display of performing arts! From early morning to late evening. Inside the theater, by the lake, in the forest, up in the attic. The roof lifts! Food and coffee included!

It’s great that the festival functions thanks to extensive support in the local area: Regarding accommodation, many neighbors have offered houses and rooms, etc., for a very cheap price! Many of these accommodations are very beautiful! 17.00 ”A Thousand Years with God” – Göteborgs Dramatiska Teater.

18.10 The festival opens – outdoor escapades with Teater Albatross.

18:30 S.O.P performance with Sara Sguotti, dancer and performance artist from Italy.

19.00 DINNER in the Community Center.

20:00 ”The City Without Jews”: silent film from 1924, with live music by Donald Sosin, Joana Seaton, and Alicia Svigal – world-class musicians from New York. Thanks to the Sunrise Foundation USA.

10.30 Teater Albatross ”1917 – When the Clocks Stopped” theater performance about the Russian Revolution. About dreams of freedom, about hell on earth. “Brilliant how the Jewish aspect has been intertwined with the revolution” – Ulrika Knutson.

12.00 ”Voices of Pain” performance by and with Moria – a Palestinian theater and dance group formed in 2012 in the Yarmouk refugee camp in Syria. Active in Sweden since 2015. They participated in ”Ship to Gaza” in spring 2024.

12.40 Moria in conversation with Monzer El-Sabini, renowned principal in Gothenburg with roots in Palestine.

13.00 LUNCH

14.10 Teater Albatross ”In the Shadow of Hatred, Flowers Grow,” a theater performance set in Poland during World War II. A young Jewish man is on the run. About the Holocaust, love, and friendship. In Gunnarps Church.

14.55 Monzer El-Sabini on his work as principal at Bergsjöskolan/Bergum School. He will speak on invisible walls and the fear that paralyzes people. About the dehumanization of the other!

15.05 Karin Brygger, author, gives a brief account of the exciting Jewish Salon in Gothenburg and reads her own texts. She has published 9 books, writes for GP and DN.

15.30 Trumtrum concert, sound art, strange music, and underground entertainment. By and with Mikael Ericsson, Harp Art Lab. Music – A highly inspiring Hallander who has the ability to stop time. Here and now. Happiness.

16:30 David Thurfjell, religious historian and author, in conversation about ”Is man an animal among others or a beast in a class of its own”. Monzer-El Sabini joins after 20 min. After 17.05 also with the audience.

17.30 ”Sherlock” and ”Cops” – two Buster Keaton silent films. Donald Sosin plays piano, Joanna Seaton sings and plays percussion.

14:05 ”The Forest Organ” – a fairy tale for adults, theater performance by Teater Albatross. Discussion afterward: ”What does culture contribute to complex social issues?”

15:30 Sebastian Kirppu, forest biologist – lecture on the old-growth forest emergency and discussion with the audience.

16:05 Valtteri Keinänen and Beljana Metje – dance performance on the asphalt.

16:35 COFFEE

17:00 David Thurfjell (religious historian)/ Sebastian Kirppu (forest biologist) in conversation about the significance of beauty in nature, in evolution, and why humans elevate themselves above their fellow creatures. Moderator – Fabian Zeidlitz.

19.00 – 19.30 Björn-Ola Linnér on Georg Borgström – so esteemed in the 60s – now completely forgotten. SvD called him “The world’s most famous Swede.” He gave lectures on the ecological crisis at the UN and in various places. He warned the world in speeches and books about what would happen if humanity did not restrain itself. It concerned the oceans, rainforests, groundwater, overpopulation, agriculture. He saw the danger. People listened with great respect. Then he disappeared! Rachel Carson did not! Why?

19.50 Signifikator Ambient Collective – Welcome to Signifikator Ambient Collectives interactive jam! Under the cover of darkness, we open the doors to imagination and invite you all to participate in creating this soundscape. Maybe you have a voice memo lying around? A poem you’ve never dared to read? Or a melody that needs to be brought to life? In our tent, there are microphones and cables with which you as a festival participant have the opportunity to build a suggestively beautiful world together with us.

Thursday 1/8 Art that brings joy, music!

10:15 Andreas Chadien and Jonathan Hilli, musicians and poets, at Sjöviken, in the beautiful dance pavilion in Ätran. The audience is bused from Tokalynga and back. Ätrans bus.

10.50 Karolin Kent and Rickard Fredborg – improvised dance with experimental sound design. Both Karolin and Rickard are from the Tokalynga area – Welcome!

11:30 -11:55 Ika Nord tells with Robert Jakobsson about an exceptional joint tour to Kaliningrad, Russia, in 1999. Some theater, some documentary images, maybe some film! Then a conversation between Ika and Robert about independent group art and institutional art.

12:00 Robert Piotrowicz – concert! This experimental musician took Albatross by storm a few years ago. It was the Ministry of Culture in Warsaw that scheduled a performance at Tokalynga… His music astonished us! Robert is known from large outdoor concerts in Germany. We are so happy that he is back! And now in the Dance Pavilion! After Robert, busing back to Tokalynga.

13:00 LUNCH

14.00 Teatro Nucleo talks about their work in prisons. And in mental hospitals. Very exciting. Albatross has seen the work in Ferrara’s prison in Italy. – Very inspiring. With film –(s). At Tokalynga.

14.50 Gallery opening Robert and Åsa from Teater Albatross talk about theater, scenography, and art.

15.05 Nina Hemmingsson, a comic book legend, talks about her comic art. The artist who comments on society. In the Gallery. Guests visit in groups!

17:10 Nathalie Ruiz – a dancer, an artist, a phenomenon! She gives us a world premiere: ”Kantskalle.” After Emanuel Kant, the philosopher! Ruiz is a former dancer in Cullbergbaletten and worked for many years with Mats Ek.

Friday 2/8 Family day – Come to Tokalynga children and old, from near and far!

208:00-10.30 Long breakfast with poetry and songs! Some of the poets: Ingela Strandberg, Gunnar Harding, Thomas Tidholm, Zainab Tahir, and others. In addition, Robert Jakobsson will read some poetry.

12:00 ”The Girl and the Sea Turtle” – Teater Albatross children’s performance about the sea, overfishing, and the UN. For ages 4 and up.

13.00 Lunch – children first!
